righteousness requires self-control (God imposed control over flesh) and judgement to come. Because the judgement, for the love of God, get the spirit of HOLY TRUTH so you may have LIFE now, and be subject to FATHER OF SPIRITS AND LIVE. The fruit of the SPIRIT is RIGHTEOUSNESS. Those who are exercised by the chastening of the Lord, yield the peaceable fruit of righteousness, it is God dealing with us as legitimate children, and no chastening is pleasant at the time, therefore be subject to Father of Spirits and live. (the spirit is life because of righteousness) Righteousness of God inside. Truth inside, follow the spirit, bring forth the truth, into reality [work out salvation (that spirit - not neglect so great a salvation)], bear fruit of righteousness. (law cannot give life, cannot make us do good things)dead to law, married to another, Christ to bear fruit for God. Those led by spirit, walk according to spirit, not according to (old way) of the flesh.
who is the law for? (1 Timothy 1:9-) Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; (doctrine is a teaching that results in a manner of living - objective fruit based result) sow to the spirit, reap life everlasting. put to death deeds of flesh and live.

FEAR GOD: 2 Peter 2:4-21

Titus 2:11-14 THE CHRISTIAN LIFE in 4 VERSES
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
**2 Pet 3:7,10-12
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2 Pet 3: 17-18
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Grow in Grace. why would Peter use this phrase? (consider the context, not fall from own steadfastness, in context of people sinning). There is a power in the Grace (calling and having been made righteous) of God. Greater is He in us than he in the world. Jesus overcame, we can too, through the Spirit given to us. When I am weak, the power of Christ may rest upon me.
The devil has no power over our dead flesh and when we are in the spirit, no temptation is greater than the Word of God. Do we have a love for the truth? Do we love God more than sin?

He (does not tempt us more than we are able, and) makes a way of escape; resist devil and he will flee.
Endued with power from on High. Spirit of Holiness - follow and be holy. Truth, follow and do what's true = righteousness. (True by God, how do we know, through the Word of God. The Word lived through (us; a vessel) is the Living Word of God (the Spirit of Truth).
As many led by the spirit are sons of God, who walk after the spirit, not after the flesh. (Carnal mind, enmity with God, cannot be subject to the law of God.) The Spirit mind is life and peace, is subject to the Law of God, and Mind of Christ is fully able and did keep the law in perfection;
hold every thought (plan) in subjection to the obedience of Christ. ...
